Nobriga Wins Gatorade Award (Posted: 2/20/2006)

Kamehameha's Markee Nobriga was named yesterday as Hawaii's Gatorade girls soccer player of the year.
Nobriga, a 5-foot-8 senior defender, led the Warriors to state and Interscholastic League of Honolulu titles.

Nobriga also carries a 3.6 grade-point average.

"Markee is one of the most athletic and determined athletes I have ever worked with," Kamehameha coach Michele Nagamine said. "She has an incredible work ethic and strives to better herself daily. She is an intense defender and thrives off challenges."

Nobriga is one of 51 finalists representing the 50 states and the District of Columbia eligible for the Gatorade National Girls Soccer Player of the Year.

Markee Nobriga is member of Leahi 89 Premier. Nobriga joins fellow Leahi alums Kelsey Baker (87), Adria Campbell (85) and Romy Trigg-Smith (84) all of Punahou, as winners of this prestigeous award. Congrats Markee!
