Kai to National Team! (Posted: 2/3/2006)

Congratulations to Natasha Kai on her invitation to the U.S. Women's National Team Training Camp to be held at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California. As the University of Hawaii's all time leading scorer, U.S. Women's National Team Coach Greg Ryan, at the time the U21 Coach, invited Kai to participate with the U21s. In 2004, she was the leading scorer for the team at the Nordic Cup in Norway. In late 2005, Kai was invited back to the U21s as an overage player (the tournament allows 3 players over the age of 21). After a great training camp, Kai was invited to go to England with the U21s. However, Coach Ryan called and told her they would like her to attend the full National Team camp. Kai was a member of the Leahi 83 team under Coach Michele "Bud" Nagamine and Coach Scott Keopuhiwa. She currently plays with the Leahi Women's Open team. The Kahuku High School grad is the first woman from Hawaii invited to train with US Women's National Team. We all hope China (Women's World Cup and Olympics) are in her future!
